The Reading List For Non Readers
https://dzgeekers.blogspot.com/2016/01/the-reading-list-for-non-readers.html
If you are a book lover, then you obviously started with a book
that just twisted your life upside down from a plain human to book worm,
however, it takes time to find the right book, the right author, the right
story that makes you sink into the book and forget about the world.
In the following
article, I’ll list for you some anonymous reviews from bookworms about the very
first book they started with :
1- The misfortunes of Sophie by Sophie Rostopshine :
The misfortunes of
Sophie is a collection of short stories that happened to a little girl living
the aristrocrats life, and with all the pros and cons of life, she always
managed to get the best of the situations.
The book teaches that
dealing with life may not be easy but it is possible and at the end, no matter
all the material things you own, only the invisible things make your happiness,
because it is felt not seen.
2- Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen :
This title goes in
almost every kind of reading list recommandation, and it is sure not a
cohensidence, Jane Austen’s style is very special, she doesn’t tell you about
the story, she makes you live inside of it, a mixture of moral, education, life
and love, you meet with Mrs Bennet and Mr Darcy, and discover a gentle side of
life with the flaws of both of them.
3- The Little Prince by Antoine De Saint Exupery :
As the title
expresses it, the story involves a prince, but quite uncommon to the kingdom
stories we know, he reigns over the asteroid 612, and, too curious to say up
above, he decides to visit the earth, there he meets a human and they go along
a journey together all along the book.
The beauty of this
story is seen in two points, the first is that the wolrd’s current situation
can relate to the story in a very subtle way, the second is that the story is
dedicated to kids, by the simple phrases and the innocence flowing out of it,
and yet, a person would never understand its beauty unless they read it as an
adult.
4- Sherlock Holmes Stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle :
We always think of
Sherlock when it comes to detectives, but in the books, we are mesmerized by
him because we see him from Watson’s eyes, as the story is told from the point
of view of his assistant, Doctor Watson, who has an absolute respect for Mr
Holmes work, and the story is told that way because the author himself is a
doctor.
Through the stories,
you feel like there’s a light veil between Holmes and the criminal, the veil
can drop at any moment , at any sentence, and it keeps you hanging until the
very end, making each piece of the puzzle fall right into place, and the
conclusion is made through a deep and illuminating conversation between Watson
and Holmes.
5- Girl On Paper by Guillaume Musso :
Its original title is
“ La Fille De Papier”, and it talks about a writer and the protagonist of his
own book, as they meet at the very beggining, because unfortunatly, she fell
off the book.
The story seems
fictional until the very end, and through it, Musso takes the readers across
California and Mexico to rediscover the true meaning of love, friendship and
devotion, yet the end is shocking, heart breaking and tear dropping.
To conclude, there
isn’t much to say except that a book might be too heavy, too expensive, too
long or even too unrealistic, yet we should keep on reading, not to fall
asleep, not for isolation, not out of boredom, but we read because we find in
books all the hopes, the lights, the promises, the shadows and the dreams we
see in the world, we read because we walk through the pages, hand in hand, with
people we never met before, we read because we search for the glitters of life, that can only be written by the finest of minds.
