SDH, a candle of hope...
SDH, a non profit association located in El bahia
Oran, a candle of hope and a fountain of opportunities for youths, to develop
their skills, and become very effective persons, in their personal and professional
life but more particularly in their society.
One of the most striking projects of the
year 2015 is the one under the name of ‘Aladin’, which consists in
sociocultural activities, this last has required 8 months of work and energy. Starting
with training sessions, followed up by different events organized by SDH
leaders, aiming to raise awareness among youths, in the domain of education, patrimony,
environment and culture.
Challenge day, this experience deeply human,
full of meaning, holding messages of tolerance & love, which over 100
participants took part of.
The day starts with a set of games to
create a positive atmosphere, make participants forget the pressure of studies
and its routine. After that we move to an exercise called ‘who we are’ in which
everyone presents themselves and get to know the people around them a little
bit more. Little by little we move to more serious activities, through talks, videos,
debates, we discuss the most common adolescence issues, as well as the bad
impact of prejudices in our relationships with others.
At the end of the day, within an under-groups,
the chance is given to each and everyone to speak up about their problems, hard
channels crossed, different challenges lived, starting by the sentence ‘If you
really knew me, you would know that…’ and they carry on. This allows them to
take a step out of their comfort zone, to be heard, respected, understood and
mainly accepted THE
WAY THEY ARE.
That’s the Challenge Day, a lesson of tolerance and love, a pace toward a personal development and a strong message that says: there's a story behind every person. There's a reason why they're the way they are. They aren't just like that because they want to. Something in the past created them, and all we have to do is accept them for who they are.
